Magda and Kwek- they have been together for a few years now and locked down together during the pandemic brought the idea of married life to the fore; so when Magda told her friend Margo-who is a wedding photographer-that one day she would be on the shortlist as her photographer, Margo said “Why don’t you try me out now? It turns out that a pretend wedding is just kind of crazy idea that Kwek and Magda felt would be a good warm up for the real thing! So, with a bit of magic on soft hazy August day-day made their ‘lockdown’ fantasy at the Green Cornwall come true.

The theme of the day was ‘Great Gatsby’ with a twist. We wanted to pair art-deco patterns and metallic accents with elegant and sophisticated whites and blues. We held our ‘pretend ceremony’ at the Rustic Barn – we loved it raw, decadent character which we spiced up with stylish white voiles, pampas grass and candle light.

Our table was decorated with an abundance of white, dusty silver and blue shades. I always envisioned all-white flowers on my wedding day to keep the design clean and classic with flowers like hydrangeas, roses, carnations and lisianthus. Monika really understood our vision and after seeing what she created – I almost cried – it was just perfect. The colour theme was a mix of blues, dusty greys and emerald greens. We thought jewel tones matched the vibrancy of the Rustic Barn and would stand out against our crisp white flowers.

Our stationary was created by ER Stationery. We went for an elegant and chic dark blue background with retro art deco gold features. That was a perfect addition to our theme.

The venue offered three course meal in your own private restaurant overlooking the grounds. We also had an afternoon tea straight after the ceremony with some champagne cocktails. The cakes were supplied by Mila’s Bakery and we loved every single flavour. They are known for their gooey brownies, OG cookies and fudgy blondies.
